To the Man in 2D. A Tale of LEADING BY EXAMPLE.
A woman was carrying her 11-month-old daughter, Lucy, and a large oxygen tank onto a plane.
They were headed to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to continue Lucy’s treatment for chronic lung disease.
A man in first-class saw them.
The man had paid for his first-class seat to experience a more pleasant flight. He saw this woman and this tiny little girl attached to a tank to help her breathe, and then realized he had — AN OPPORTUNITY.
Every moment of every day each of us have this same opportunity.
A chance to make the whole, entire, world a slightly better place through random acts of kindness.
The man decided to forego the luxuries of first-class and insisted on changing seats with this woman so that she and her child can have a bit more room for the oxygen tank, and themselves.
The measure of this man isn’t his wealth. It isn’t his height. It is his depth. The depth of his soul. The depth of his empathy. The depth of his kindness.
He saw the plight of someone else, a total stranger, and thought to himself “what can I do to make this a tiny bit better?”
And then did exactly that.
